Difference Between Sterilized And Non Sterilized Masks

- Jan 15, 2021-

Sterilization degree is the main difference between sterilization and non sterilization of disposable masks. Although both of them are required to be produced in aseptic workshops with more than 100000 levels, the sterilization degree and standard of sterilized masks will be far greater than that of non sterilized masks, and the aseptic level of workshops producing sterilized masks will be higher than that of non sterilized masks. In addition to the final sterilization process, the requirements of sterile and non sterile types from raw materials to production process are the same, and other indicators such as filtration efficiency are the same.

At present, the sterilization of medical masks is carried out by EO. Because EO is flammable, explosive, carcinogenic and respiratory protective product, it must be sterilized for 7-14 days after EO sterilization until the residual amount of EO is below 10ug / g.

The main reason is that in medical places such as ICU and operating room, which need to strictly control the microbial environment, the things that need to be entered are sterile, so as not to cause other bacterial infections of patients. Non sterile can not be used in the environment with strict requirements for microbial indicators, but it is safe enough to meet the protection needs of the daily public. Moreover, all kinds of sterilization treatment will greatly reduce the electrostatic effect of the mask, so the filtration effect of sterile will be lower than that of non sterile.
